On The Rocks partnered with Jim Beam to bottle a ready-to-drink Whiskey Sour designed to be poured straight over ice. The question remains: how does it taste? Let’s dive in.

The cocktail combines Jim Beam Kentucky Straight Bourbon with citrus notes and sweetness. At 375 ml and 20% ABV, each bottle yields four servings. Purchased at $21.99, that comes out to around $5.50 per drink, making it noticeably more affordable than a comparable cocktail at a bar.

On the nose, it’s bright and citrus-forward, with plenty of orange. The first sip brings a wave of sourness, but it stops short of being puckering. That tartness quickly softens into a light, balanced sweetness. The orange notes remain prominent, and while the bourbon is present, it’s very mellow—approachable enough that even non-bourbon drinkers could enjoy it.

This isn’t a revolutionary take on a whiskey sour, but it doesn’t need to be. The flavor is balanced, restrained on sweetness, and easy to enjoy. The convenience of simply pouring it over ice makes it feel effortless, and the price point hits a sweet spot for at‑home cocktails. For whiskey sour fans, this is a solid and dependable option.
