Rabbit Hole isn’t a brand I’ve spent much time with—this is only the second expression I’ve tried after Boxergrail, which I surprisingly enjoyed despite being a rye. How does this one compare? Let’s dive in.
Made from a mash bill of 65% corn, 25% wheat, and 10% malted barley, this whiskey is finished in PX sherry casks.
Nose: Dark fruit with light sweetness and caramel
Palate: Vanilla, fruit, warming spices, and almond
Finish: Lingering spice with fig and oak
ABV: 46.5%
Price: $80–$90
I’ve come to realize that I’m a fan of whiskies finished in other spirit and wine casks, and this one is no exception. The wine cask finish adds a welcome sweetness, yet the bourbon remains true to its core character. Rather than masking its identity, the wine influence enhances and elevates the whiskey. The result is a complex pour with layers of fruit, gentle sweetness, and warming spice. It’s easy to sip and should appeal to both wine lovers and bourbon fans alike. This is an ideal after‑dinner whiskey—aperitif‑like, but without excessive sweetness. Never cloying, it stands out as a unique expression well worth sampling.
Cheers!
