Wolcott Ready to Serve Old Fashioned

In case you didn’t know, Wolcott is a private bourbon label made exclusively for retailers like Total Wine, which is where I grabbed this Ready-to-Serve Old Fashioned. It’s getting hot here on the East Coast, meaning cocktail season is officially upon us. So, as an Old Fashioned fan, I had to find out: does this one deliver?

This 750mL bottle cost me $20. The cocktail is made with Wolcott Kentucky Straight Bourbon, bitters, and caramel color, and is bottled at 35% ABV.

Overall, this is surprisingly good, honestly, it’s better than I expected. Right up front, you get sweet cherry notes, but that sweetness fades quickly and mellows into more citrus and bitters on the finish. Is it the best Old Fashioned out there? No. But it’s still enjoyable, and for the price, it’s a solid option. My main issue is the added coloring. Other than that, the flavor is good, the price is reasonable, and if you don’t mind the added color, you’ll probably enjoy this one.

Cheers!
