UPDATE: Aberlour A’Bunadh Cask Strength

Today’s review will be short and sweet. We’ve had this bottle on our shelf since May 2024, and we finally finished it this past weekend. So, I wanted to share my thoughts on whether I’d repurchase it and if my feelings have changed since my initial review.

But first, let me remind you of the notes.

Nose: sherry, oranges, and spices

Palate: raisins, bitter oranges, baking spices, and dark chocolate

Finish: bitter, spices and oak

ABV: 60.3% | Cost: $100+

In my initial review, I loved this expression, and honestly, that hasn’t changed. This whisky is incredibly warming not just because of the ABV, but because of those lovely baking spice notes. You also get raisins and dark chocolate, and to me, this is the perfect type of whisky for this time of year.

I will say that there is a bit of a kick at 60.3% ABV. It’s not for the faint of heart, but to me, it’s beautifully made and tastes fantastic.

Now, would I repurchase it? Maybe eventually, but only because we already have so many whiskies on our shelves. It’s not something I feel like I need to run out and grab another bottle of right away. But it’s still a fantastic dram, and my feelings about it definitely haven’t changed.

Cheers!

Note: The contents on my blog are solely my opinion. To me every palate is different! Although I may or may not like a product, I always recommend people to try it and make up their own minds.
