Spooky season is upon us! And to help celebrate, Compass Box kindly gifted me this Monster in the Orchard Cocktail Kit to get into the Halloween spirit and to celebrate the Penicillin cocktail turning 21 this year!
Before I jump into the cocktail, I have to mention that Compass Box Orchard House is one of my favorite expressions from them. I reviewed it last year, and you can find that review here on this platform.
Now, on to the cocktail!
Monster in the Orchard
Ingredients:
1.5 oz Orchard House
0.5 oz The Peat Monster
1.5 oz fresh apple juice
2 barspoons rich sugar syrup (2:1)
Soda to top
Recipe: Pour all the ingredients into an ice-filled Collins glass, give it a stir, and voilà the cocktail is ready!
You can garnish with an apple fan if you have an apple handy. I went with a dehydrated blood orange instead. I also switched things up a little and replaced the soda with Olipop Apple Crisp, which worked really well.
And the final verdict? This cocktail is delicious. It has just the right amount of sweetness, followed by that smokiness from The Peat Monster. The smoke lets you know it’s there without being too overwhelming, which makes everything come together nicely.
So, if you’re looking for some Halloween cocktail inspo, give this one a shot. It’s fantastic!
Cheers!
