Here’s a single grain whiskey made with two grains, 94% corn and 6% malted barley.
Confused? Me too. False Advertising? It happens!
Don’t worry, here’s what I learned today when reading about this particular whiskey on the Kilbeggan website. “The notion that ‘single grain’ describes a whiskey made with just one grain is a common misperception. Rather, the term refers to whiskey made in a single location using malted barley and at least one other grain.”
Nose: vanilla, fruit and cake
Palate: lightly sweet, oak, spices and hazelnuts
Finish: smooth, fruit and spices
I don’t care how many grains this whiskey has, this whiskey is simply delicious. I find that once again Kilbeggan has created a delicious nectar.
This whiskey is balanced with just the right amount of sweetness letting us know, hey I’m here, but I’m not going to give you a cavity. It’s fantastic!!
You know what else is fantastic, the price! I paid $28.99. It’s a quality, affordable Irish whiskey that is simply delicious.
Cheers!
