Johnnie Walker Black 12 Years

We’re back with another affordable whisky that’s not only good, but also easy to find. You don’t always need to spend a lot of money to enjoy a great dram, nor should you have to hunt endlessly for a bottle. One of my favorite Johnnie Walker expressions is Blue Label, but you don’t have to spend that kind of money to enjoy the brand. Enter: Johnnie Walker Black Label 12-Year-Old.

Johnnie Walker Black Label 12-Year-Old is a blended Scotch that works equally well neat or in a cocktail. Let’s get to the notes.

Nose: Pepper, vanilla, and oak

Palate: Creamy vanilla, fruit, and baking spices

Finish: A warm, gentle hug with subtle smoke

ABV: 40%

Cost: Around $40 for a 750ml bottle (we paid $1.99 for a 50ml bottle)

This is a quality, affordable, and widely available blended Scotch. One thing I appreciate is the approachable 40% ABV, which makes it easy to sip on its own. It’s creamy and light, with notes of vanilla, fruit, and spice throughout. Not every great whisky has to be expensive or hard to find, and Johnnie Walker Black Label is another great example of that.

While I enjoy this one neat, it’s also an excellent option for cocktails. Whether you’re new to Scotch or just looking for a dependable bottle that won’t break the bank, this one is hard to beat. Great neat, great in cocktails, easy to find, and reasonably priced. What’s not to like?

Cheers!
