It had been a long time since I’d had anything from Bully Boy. That all changed recently when my husband told me they had released a line of canned cocktails. As soon as I heard one of them featured bourbon, I was on a mission to track them down… and thankfully, I found them.
For those who aren’t familiar, Bully Boy is a local Massachusetts distillery founded by brothers Dave and Will Willis in 2010. They currently offer three canned cocktail flavors: Cherry Bounce, Raspberry Lime Rickey, and Orange Fizz. I managed to find all three, but the one I was most excited to try was the Cherry Bounce. We also picked up the Raspberry Lime Rickey, but today I’m focusing on the Cherry Bounce, so let’s get into it.
I purchased a four-pack of 12 oz cans (6% ABV) for $11.99, which comes out to about $3 per cocktail. Cherry Bounce is inspired by the colonial-era classic that was once a favorite of George Washington. For this version, bourbon and vodka are steeped with thousands of fresh cherries before being blended with lemon, a touch of baking spices, and carbonation.
I also reached out to Bully Boy for the nutritional information. They shared that each can contains about 10 grams of sugar and approximately 140-150 calories. But the real question is: is it any good?
Yes, it is! This cocktail is refreshing, light, and crisp. If you’re worried about the bourbon being overpowering, don’t be. I barely pick up any bourbon notes at all. What shines through most are the cherries and lemon. I don’t get much of the baking spices either, but what I really appreciate is how natural everything tastes. Nothing comes across as artificial or overly sweet. It’s simply an easy-drinking, well-balanced cocktail that feels perfect for a warm day.
Cheers!
