As the weather warms, I tend to reach for whiskey cocktails over drinking it neat. Recently, I’ve been enjoying the On The Rocks ready-to-drink lineup, and I picked up their Spiced Pear Whiskey Sour, so let’s dive in and see how it holds up.
The 375 mL bottle (40% ABV) retails for $12.99 and yields about four servings, bringing the cost to roughly $3.25 per cocktail, an undeniable value compared to bar pricing. It’s produced with Old Overholt 4-Year Straight Rye Whiskey and spiced pear liqueur.
This is easily my favorite release from them to date. Bright pear, warm cinnamon, and citrus notes lead the way, while the whiskey adds depth without overpowering the profile. The acidity is perfectly balanced, and the restrained sweetness allows the flavors to shine in harmony. It also sparked my interest in trying Old Overholt 4-Year Rye on its own. Although labeled as a limited edition, I hope it remains available. It is a cocktail well worth trying.
Cheers!
