Traveller Whiskey Blend No. 40

Traveller Whiskey is a blended expression from Buffalo Trace, born from a collaboration between Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley and Grammy-winning artist Chris Stapleton. I’d had my eye on this bottle for a while, but only recently decided to give it a try when I spotted a 50ml mini available.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: if you have the chance to sample a whiskey in a mini before committing to a full bottle—do it. It’s a smart way to explore without the full investment.

Now, let’s dive into this expression.

Nose: vanilla, caramel and oak

Palate: very creamy, nutty, with notes of vanilla and spices

Finish: oak and vanilla

ABV: 45%

Cost: $1.99 (for the 50ml we purchased)

I really enjoyed this whiskey. It’s creamy, smooth, and lightly sweet, with just the right balance of vanilla, spice, oak, and nutty notes. What makes it even more appealing is the price point—a 750ml bottle goes for just $32.99, which is a great value for something that tastes this good.

To me, it’s very reminiscent of Wathen’s, both in texture and flavor profile. I’d absolutely pick up a full bottle in the future, so I’m glad I had the chance to try the mini first.

Cheers!
