Here is another mini bottle that I purchased towards the end of last year. I generally enjoy Penelope whiskey, and I had high hopes for this one. While this offering wasn’t necessarily bad, it simply didn’t leave a lasting impression on me. But let’s dive more into this whiskey.
The bourbon is aged 4 years, and the mash bill consists of 75% corn, 15% Wheat, 7% Rye and 3% Malted Barley. It is composed of three different bourbon mash bills, all of which are made up of these four grains.
Nose: caramel, oak and light sweetness
Palate: vanilla, grain, leather and oak
Finish: vanilla and spices
ABV: 40%
Cost: $6 (50ml) what we purchased; Full bottle goes for about $30-$40
This whiskey is relatively young, offering a gentle sweetness with hints of vanilla and spices that blend harmoniously with notes of oak and grain. It is an easy-to-sip whiskey that is approachable both in terms of price and taste. However, it’s important to set realistic expectations as it doesn’t offer anything groundbreaking or revolutionary in terms of flavor. If you are seeking an affordable and easy-drinking option, this whiskey fits the bill. The advantage being, you can find these smaller mini bottles available, allowing you to try before you invest in a big bottle.
Cheers!
