Dewar’s – White Label, 12-Year, and 15-Year

Let me start by saying that I tried Dewar’s White Label many years ago and I didn’t like it at all. With that said, I stumbled across this set and thought, why not give it another try, so here we are.

Dewar’s is a blended Scotch whisky that is currently owned by Bacardi. Their best-selling whisky is the brand White Label. I purchased this 200 mL set of 3 for $22.99.

Dewar’s White Label
Nose: citrus and honey
Palate: vanilla, honey, citrus and fruit
Finish: citrus and sweetness
Comments: It’s a lot creamier than I remembered. Citrus is the prominent note you get throughout the sip. Have I changed my mind, no. I still don’t like it, but it is better than I remembered it was. It would be great in cocktails.

Dewar’s 12-Year
Nose: fruit, honey, and lemon zest
Palate: fruit, vanilla and floral
Finish: smooth with light sweetness
Comments: This one is slightly better. It’s creamy, with floral notes and hints of sweetness.

Dewar’s 15-Year
Nose: vanilla and honey
Palate toffee, vanilla, honey, spices, and floral notes
Finish: lightly sweet with hints of spice
Comments: this one is the best of three, for me at least. It’s lightly sweet and balanced with spice notes.

I read on their website that their White Label is the preferred whisky by bartenders used for highballs in Japan. I mean, Dewar’s is obviously doing something right. Plain and simple, it’s just not a whisky for me. It isn’t terrible but I’m also not going to reach for it either.

What’s this set good for? The holidays! It’ll make a great gift for any Dewar’s lover or highball drinker. We are after all less than 6 weeks away from the Christmas holiday.

Cheers!

Note: The contents on my blog are solely my opinion. To me every palate is different! Although I may or may not like a product, I always recommend for people to try it and make up their own minds.
