Glenfarclas 12-Year

This mini 50 ml little bottle that cost me about $4 is my first introduction to the Glenfarclas brand. I don’t know why I didn’t try it before but now that I have, I’m glad I did.

Glenfarclas is a Speyside Single Malt Scotch that has been family owned for 5 generations. This 12-year is 100% matured in Oloroso Sherry casks.

Nose: sherry, spices, and fruit
Palate: creamy, sherry, spices, fruit and lightly sweet
Finish: light burn, oak, and spices
Cost: $50 or so

This whisky is creamy, lightly sweet but it does have heavy notes of sherry. I’m certainly not mad about it but, for those who don’t enjoy sherry, you will not enjoy this one. Although it’s sherry heavy I found moments where I’m hit with spices and others with sweetness. That is what made me want to keep drinking.

I haven’t tried any of their other whiskies but for a 12-year whisky, I think it’s good. Not only because of the taste but this is a good whisky for the price. At around $50, this is a pretty darn good option to try. But, if you don’t want to spend $50, spend $4 for a mini. I did and I now know I will be trying more from this brand.

Cheers!

Note: The contents on my blog are solely my opinion. To me every palate is different! Although I may or may not like a product, I always recommend for people to try it and make up their own minds.
