Women Who Whiskey (wWw) continues to celebrate its 10th year anniversary and this time they’ve partnered with Penderyn, the first distillery to open in Wales within the last 100 years. On Saturday I joined a Zoom to hear all about how far Penderyn and wWw have come.
Penderyn launched in 2004. The distillery has grown from just producing 90,000 liters of pure alcohol a year to 400,000 since first opening its doors. Legend is part of their Dragon series, and you’ll find that this series has a lower abv than the Gold Series. Whiskies in this range include Legend, Myth and Celt.
Truth be told if you already own Legend then you already have this bottle. The only thing that changed for the wWw 10th anniversary was the label where they added a logo to the bottle.
Nose: fruit, apples and citrus
Palate: smooth, fruity, and lightly sweet
Finish: Madeira and fruit
Cost: $39.99 (what I paid)
ABV: 43%
This is a light, fruity and refreshing whisky. I love that it has a lower abv as it makes it an everyday drinking whisky and would be easy to mix in a cocktail.
I’ll be honest, I’ve had this whisky before, and I really like it because of how easy it is to drink. You’ll find that it’s smooth with very little burn. It is a perfect starter whisky for those just starting to get into whisky.
Cheers!
