Penelope Bourbon Barrel Strength

Now here’s a bourbon that we picked up not because we were familiar with the brand but rather because we had heard good things about it so, we wanted to see if truly was a good bourbon.

Penelope Bourbon is distilled at the MGP’s distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana and is bottled in Kentucky. We picked up Batch 6 which is bottled at 57.9 abv

Nose: oak and citrus
Palate: oak, cherries, caramel and lightly sweet
Finish: lightly sweet and smooth
Cost: $64.99 (this is what we paid)

This is a pleasantly approachable barrel strength bourbon. Honestly, I was quite surprised by how smooth it was for being 57.9%. Aside from the smoothness you also get light sweetness and lovely notes of cherries making for a well rounded sip.

I enjoyed this bourbon more than I thought I would. I can also say that a barrel strength at this price is pretty darn good.

Cheers!

Note: The contents on my blog are solely my opinion. To me every palate is different! Although I may or may not like a product, I always recommend for people to try it and make up their own minds.

    A bourbon called Penelope?
I’d have bought it for the name!
