Bowmore Aged 25 Years

I’ve long been a fan of Bowmore, and it’s been a while since I last reviewed one of their expressions, so when the opportunity came to sample this 25‑year‑old, I couldn’t have been more pleased. Let’s dive in.

This expression was matured in a combination of American oak ex‑bourbon casks and European oak Oloroso sherry casks.

Nose: fruit and vanilla

Palate: toffee, nutty, light smoke, stone fruit, and chocolate

Finish: light smoke, sweetness and toffee

ABV: 43%

Cost: $500-$800 (Depending on the retailer)

This is a beautifully crafted whisky, refined and elegantly balanced, with smoke that presents itself delicately rather than assertively. The peat is mellow and seamlessly integrated, complementing the stone fruit, chocolate, and nutty notes with precision. At 43% ABV, it’s an easy, approachable sip. While I absolutely love it, this is very much a special‑occasion dram given its price point. Not one I’d rush out to purchase, but certainly a dream whisky that remains high on my wish list.

Note: The contents on my blog are solely my opinion. To me every palate is different! Although I may or may not like a product, I always recommend people to try it and make up their own minds.
