This whisky review has remained one of the most popular pieces on my blog. With our bottle now officially finished, I thought it was an ideal time to look back at the impressions we recorded when we first opened it in August 2024. Did it live up to our expectations? Is it worth buying again? Keep reading to find out! But first, let’s refresh your memory on the tasting notes.
Nose: sweetness, vanilla, and honey
Palate: apricots, fruit, spices and dark chocolate
Finish: smooth, light peat and spices
ABV: 40%
Cost: $26 (what we paid back in 2024)
This whisky isn’t groundbreaking, and it won’t blow your mind—but it’s wonderfully easy to drink. The peat is gentle, balanced by a touch of sweetness, and in today’s world of overpriced blended scotches, this one stands out as a solid choice. It’s versatile too: perfect as an everyday pour, great in cocktails, and for me, ideal in a hot toddy. That’s a big win in my book. If you’re looking for an affordable scotch that delivers without the hype, this is it—just don’t expect it to knock your socks off. I’d happily buy it again, and I’m curious to explore their other expressions.
Cheers!
