Update: Sea Flame Spice Whiskey

Cinnamon has always been my favorite note in whiskey, and this expression delivered it in abundance—an instant favorite. We picked up this gem from Newport Craft Brewing and Distilling Co. in Newport, RI, during the summer, and now that the bottle is gone, it’s time to answer the big question: would I repurchase? Before that, let’s revisit the flavor profile.

Nose: cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom

Palate: cinnamon, red hot candies, cloves and vanilla

Finish: peppercorn and loads of spices

ABV: 45%

Cost: $44 (what we paid for the bottle)

Our primary use for this whiskey was in hot toddies—a tradition I swear by when feeling under the weather. Its bold character and intense cinnamon profile made it an ideal choice. This isn’t a whiskey for everyone; it demands an appreciation for strong spice notes like cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom. For those who do, it’s exceptional. I’d happily repurchase it for this season alone. Already planning to grab another bottle for holiday mulled wine. For us, it’s a winner!

Cheers!
