Jim Beam has entered the ready-to-drink cocktail scene, and of course, we had to see what the buzz was about. They’ve rolled out two new flavors: Bourbon & Ginger Ale and Bourbon & Cola. I managed to get my hands on the Bourbon & Ginger Ale—so let’s dive in and see how it stacks up.
I picked up a 4-pack for $9.99, which breaks down to about $2.50 per cocktail—more wallet-friendly than your average bar drink. Each can is a single serving, clocking in at 5% ABV, and made with Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey and, you guessed it, Ginger Ale.
So, are these any good? Honestly, I was a bit disappointed. The ginger ale completely overpowers the drink—it’s quite sweet, and I could barely taste the bourbon. If you’re into sweeter cocktails with just a hint of whiskey, you might enjoy it. But I was hoping for a stronger bourbon presence. In fact, we ended up adding a splash of our own bourbon to balance it out, and that made it just right.
Another downside? There’s no info on the sugar content, which I do not like. Judging by the taste, I’d guess it’s high. That alone makes this a pass for me. Honestly, if you’ve got whiskey at home, it’s just as easy (and probably better) to grab your favorite ginger ale and mix it yourself, in my opinion.
Cheers!
Note: The contents on my blog are solely my opinion. To me every palate is different! Although I may or may not like a product, I always recommend for people to try it and make up their own minds.
