After nearly five years of savoring this bottle of Oban 14 Year, we’ve finally reached the end. So, it’s time for an updated take on how I feel about it today – but first, let’s revisit the tasting notes.
Nose: citrus, fruit and light peat
Palate: dried fruit, spices and light peat
Finish: salt, oak and peat
Cost: $65-$75
ABV: 43%
Simply put, this is a whisky we’ll keep coming back to. Oban 14 is a fantastic single malt – smooth, lightly sweet, and beautifully balanced without being overly peaty. I recently had drinks with someone who claimed to dislike peated whiskies yet named this as their favorite. It’s a great example of a whisky that even non-peat lovers can enjoy. Easy to sip and undeniably delicious, this one’s a staple.
Cheers!
