UPDATE: Ardbeg BizarreBQ

A couple months ago, we finally finished our bottle of Ardbeg BizarreBQ after having it for nearly two years. Now, it’s time for me to provide an update on my overall impressions. But first, here’s a brief recap on the notes and a reminder, Ardbeg’s Master Distiller Dr. Bill Lumsden teamed up with Christian Stevenson (AKA DJ BBQ) to create this limited expression.

Nose: smoke, spices and maple
Palate: smoke, oil, hickory, chili, cloves, anise and pepper
Finish: smoke and sweetness
Cost: $84.99 (what we paid)
ABV: 50.9%

I am truly saddened by the fact that I won’t be able to purchase this expression again as it was a limited edition. This easily became one of my favorite Ardbeg collaborations, and its excellence makes me wish Ardbeg would consider bringing it back. The blend of Peat and BBQ smoke, complemented by notes of spices, chilis, cloves and pepper, creates the perfect balance. Moreover, the delightful touch of sweetness at the end makes it absolutely delicious.

If you happen to come across this whisky at this price, let me tell you, it’s worth it. Every time I visit a store, I can’t help but sneak a peek, hoping to find one of these hiding in a shelf.

Cheers!

Note: The contents on my blog are solely my opinion. To me every palate is different! Although I may or may not like a product, I always recommend for people to try it and make up their own minds.
