UPDATE Old Ezra Aged 7 Years

Well, after having this bottle on our shelves for six years, we have finally finished it. Now, it’s time for an update on my overall impression and whether I would consider repurchasing it. Before we proceed, let me briefly recap the notes.

Nose: oak, vanilla and toffee

Palate: wood, vanilla, cinnamon, lightly sweet with notes of caramel

Finish: spices, creamy and buttery with a light burn

ABV: 58.5%

Cost: $39 (what we paid for this 6 years ago)

To put it simply, this bourbon is truly exceptional, and my opinion remains the same as it was six years ago. Despite being a cask strength, it offers a smooth, spiced, and buttery flavor profile, with occasional light sweetness. The spiciness is well-balanced, and while it does have a bite on the back end, it remains highly enjoyable. At the time of purchase, it was an absolute steal at $39, and I regret not buying a backup bottle since it now commands nearly double the price.

At its original price, this whiskey was an incredible bargain, and I absolutely adore it. However, considering the current cost, I may hesitate a bit. This hesitation is solely due to the increased price and not a reflection of taste or quality. Setting aside the cost, this whiskey is exquisitely crafted and undeniably one of my all-time favorite bourbons.

Cheers!
