I love the story behind this brand. The genesis goes back to just after 9/11 when an Elite group of Green Berets were inserted into Afghanistan, some on horseback. They were dubbed “Horse Soldiers” and later inspired the blockbuster movie “12 Strong”.

Nose: oak, vanilla, butterscotch and spices
Palate: oak, ginger, toffee and vanilla
Finish: charred oak and spices
ABV: 55%
Cost: $89

This whiskey is very strong and it’s not for the faint of heart. It’s got loads of spices, burn and ginger. I found the end to be heavily charred. I’ve read reviews saying it was a smooth whiskey, that’s great for those who get that smoothness. Sadly, on my palette, this was not smooth but rather rough around the edges. I love the story of this product and I look forward to trying their other offerings but, this one is not for me.
