I’m a huge fan of this brand. Their whiskey was one of my top whiskies of 2022, so I was very excited to sample their cask strength recently at a tasting event, but is it as good? Keep reading and find out.
Nose: vanilla and oak
Palate: earthy, vanilla and pepper
Finish: spices and herbs
Cost: $50 (msrp)
ABV: 59%
This is a great attempt at their first cask strength. It’s not bad but, I was expecting so much more since I love their Irish + American whisky. It’s one of my favorite whiskies. This cask strength is peppery, with very little sweetness and leans more on the earthy side than anything else.
Where this whiskey is a huge win for me, it’s in the cost. This is a phenomenal price for a cask strength whiskey and if you plan to use it as a mixer you honestly can’t go wrong.
Although this was not a win for me, this is still a great brand and I’m excited to see what they come up with next.
Cheers!
