I’ve always loved an easy ready to drink cocktail. It takes the bartending work away and all you need to do is pour over ice and enjoy. This ready to drink cocktail is produced by Boston Harbor Distillery. It’s made with their Putnam Rye Whiskey, Angostura Bitters and Demerara. It’s 35% ABV and a 375ml bottle (according to them, it has 5 servings) cost me $30. That means you are spending about $6 per cocktail as opposed to about $12 (or $18, we recently ate at a restaurant that had an Old Fashioned at $18. Yikes!).

This cocktail was a lot better than I thought it would be. I personally love this one because the whiskey is not masked by the bitters. You get both the rye whiskey and the bitters all in one sip, one not overpowering the other. It’s not sweet by any means so, if you are looking for that sweet old fashioned this is not it. But I am sure you can always add a splash of simple syrup if you want to add more sweetness.

For the price and the taste, I think this is an excellent choice.
