Bowmore has always been one of my favorite whiskies and my friends and loved ones know that. I recently received this Bowmore Vault Edit1°N as a birthday gift. This is the first release of four in the vault edition series. The Vault Edition refers to the legendary Bowmore No.1 Vaults.

This first bottling launched in 2016 and represents Atlantic Sea Salt. Although it’s a four-part series no others have released to date.

Nose: zest and sea salt 
Palate: salt, honey, spices, and iodine 
Finish: sea salt and spices 

You can truly taste the salt in each sip, not only sea salt but iodized salt. You also get zesty notes with light sweetness and for it being 51.5%, it’s smooth. 

If you aren’t a peat fan, fear not, this is not a peaty whisky. This is a beautiful whisky that lives up to its Atlantic Sea Salt reference. I will say, although I loved it, I was expecting a tad bit more. It’s fantastic but it was a shy off from knocking my socks offs. I will still drink and enjoy every drop.

PS: We paired this whisky with chocolate. I’ve said it before and will say it again, these two are a perfect pair. The chocolate we had was Sugarfina Single Malt Cordials – Cask Strength. The chocolates are AMAZING. The dark chocolate shell contains 2.1% alcohol (mini dram) inside. All I have to say is, WOW.
