Chapter 7 Whisky: Prologue Blended Malt

And just like that we’re already in August. Which means my final Flaviar box has arrived. I chose the blended Scotch Whisky they were offering. Initially I thought we got four quarterly boxes with our subscription. Flaviar told me it’s only three. Review about Flaviar to come later this year. Now on to this whisky.

Chapter 7 is an independent bottler similar to the model Gordon & MacPhail, Cadenhead, Signatory and so on. Essential they acquire whisky barrels from different single malt distilleries and try to elevate the juice by maturing it further in different types of casks.

Prologue is a blended whisky composed of whiskies from the Highlands and Speyside. It’s bottled at 49% and only 6000 bottles were made.

Nose: apples and honey
Palate: lightly sweet with notes of fruit and spice
Finish: lightly sweet with pepper notes

This whisky is reminiscent of a Glenlivet. It’s better than I thought it would be. It’s lite and possibly a late summer sipper. There’s no complexity to it but, honestly it’s beautifully blended. Is this something you need in your life, I’d say no, however compared to other blended whiskies I think they’ve done an excellent job. Don’t expect it to be amazing because you’ll be disappointed. Do expect for it be a light, good daily sipper.

On Flaviar this whisky is priced at $35.99. For the price, it’s definitely worth trying. I’m certainly going to explore more from Chapter 7.

Cheers!

Note: The contents on my blog are solely my opinion. To me every palate is different! Although I may or may not like a product, I always recommend for people to try it and make up their own minds.
