West Cork Single Malt Irish Whiskey Small Batch 8 Year

What a pleasant surprise this whiskey was. We had a chance to taste this at a small gathering recently and I don’t think I would have picked this up at a store otherwise, so I am glad we tried it as, it’s pretty darn good.

The distillery is in Skibbereen, Ireland and was first formed in 2003 by childhood friends John O’Connell, Ger McCarthy and Denis McCarthy. Here you have an Irish Whiskey that is not only delicious but it’s very affordable as costs range from $35-$39. It is matured in first fill Bourbon casks and aged for 8 years.

Nose: malt and oak

Palate: apples, spices, oak, and malt

Finish: smooth, lightly sweet and spices

What a wonderful find! This whiskey is smooth, lightly sweet, and refreshingly delicious. It’s a great alternative to higher priced Irish whiskies. If you are looking to keep costs low and want a great quality tasting Irish whisky, this is it.

Cheers!

Note: The contents on my blog are solely my opinion. To me every palate is different! Although I may or may not like a product, I always recommend for people to try it and make up their own minds.
