Glenmorangie has further developed their Quinta Ruban recipe; move over The Quinta Ruban 12-Years, the new Quinta Ruban 14-Years has arrived. This whisky, which is aged for two years longer, is matured in bourbon casks before being moved over to ruby Port casks.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Chocolate, oranges and spices
Palate: chocolate, raisins, spices, fruit and oranges
Finish: silky, oranges and chocolate
I’ve never tasted The Quinta Ruban 12-years so I can’t compare it to this one, but what I can tell you is that this 14-year whisky is absolutely fantastic. It’s smooth, silky, and deep with flavor. The chocolate notes are bold but mellow out with the notes of oranges and fruit that follow. It made for a delicious dram that I would gladly have again.
Even though Glenmorangie has upped the age on this whisky, the price will not change from what the 12-year was priced at. Cost seems to be around the $55 range. I think this actually an excellent price for the quality whisky you are getting. I would highly recommend trying.
Cheers!
