Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel Bourbon

I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t mind if one day a whisky or bourbon was name after me. Maybe I will work on making sure that happens in the future but in the meantime I’ll talk about a bourbon named after a person who helped shape the Buffalo Trace Distillery, Elmer T. Lee.

The thing to take note about Elmer T. Lee is that when first approached the distillery for work, he was told that they weren’t hiring, by Col. Albert B. Blanton. Even after he was told there was no work for him, he still went back the following week and eventually became the distilleries first master distiller. This to me goes to show that sometimes you can’t take no for an answer when it comes to pursuing your career.

I wrote about Blanton’s Original Single Barrel Bourbon back in September of last year (http://wp.me/p3Zt2k-Y). Blanton’s Original Single Barrel Bourbon as you might have already figured out, is named after Col. Albert B. Blanton. A quick summary on that post, Blanton’s Original is excellent bourbon! It shows that Buffalo Trace has been in the business for over 200 years with all their excellent products.

Now as for this post, I did like Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel bourbon however if you were to ask me if it is better than Blanton’s Original, I would tell you absolutely not. Elmer T. Lee is good bourbon but Blanton’s Original is a cut above.

Experience

Nose: Oak and leather

Palate: Sweet, honey and vanilla with touches of oak

Finish: A nice burn that certainly warms you up (Something needed during this cold winter)

Overall, it was quite enjoyable, and I would recommend trying. If you are looking to buy, then this is where you end up winning because you get great quality at the affordable price of around $30.  I honestly don’t think you can beat that.

So if you are looking for a new bourbon to try you can certainly try this one, or Blanton’s. You can’t go wrong with either of them and it will keep you warm.

Cheers!

Elmer T.

Note: The contents on my blog are solely my opinion. To me every palate is different! Although I may or may not like a product, I always recommend for people to try it and make up their own minds.
