We picked up this bottle back in March, and it took us about three months to finish, unusual for us, since most bottles tend to linger on our shelf for a few years. This one clearly didn’t stick around that long.
So, I wanted to revisit it and share whether our thoughts have changed, and whether we’d buy it again. But based on how quickly we went through it, you can probably already guess: our opinion hasn’t changed, and we’d happily repurchase. But first, let me remind you of the notes.
Nose: Raisins, figs, and a gentle sweetness
Palate: Dark fruits, cinnamon, raisins, vanilla, coconut, and caramel
Finish: Warm and spicy, with notes of apple, light sweetness, and a touch of chocolate
ABV: 55% | Cost: $59.99 (what we paid)
We loved this bottle when we first picked it up, and we still do. It really was an incredible find for us. It’s warm and gently spiced, with cinnamon notes that naturally lean toward cooler weather, but what I love most is the subtle sweetness. The coconut and vanilla from the rum cask influence add a light, almost creamy sweetness that keeps it beautifully balanced.
We would absolutely repurchase this bottle. With warmer weather ahead, it would also shine in a cocktail. It’s genuinely delicious, and the value makes it even more appealing. If you haven’t tried it and enjoy these kinds of notes, which aren’t all that common in Irish whiskey, I’d highly recommend trying.
Cheers!
Note: The contents on my blog are solely my opinion. To me every palate is different! Although I may or may not like a product, I always recommend people to try it and make up their own minds.
