We’ve made it to October—my favorite month of the year! Hooray! With the crisp air settling in, it’s safe to say we’ve officially entered whiskey season. To kick things off, I wanted to share an update on this little gem: after five years on our shelf, we’ve finally finished the bottle! But before we say goodbye to this bottle, let’s revisit the tasting notes one last time.
Nose: peat, barley and honey
Palate: vanilla, peat, spices and light honey
Finish: peat and spices
ABV: 40%
Cost: $39.99 (What we paid for it in 2020)
Would I buy this again? Absolutely. This is a beautifully crafted peated Irish whiskey. While peat is often bold and assertive, Connemara offers a unique take—delicate, refined, and perfectly balanced. The gentle smokiness harmonizes effortlessly with notes of vanilla, warm spices, and subtle sweetness. I think Connemara has truly mastered the art of peat in this expression, and it’s a bottle we’ll gladly return to time and time again.
Cheers!
Note: The contents on my blog are solely my opinion. To me every palate is different! Although I may or may not like a product, I always recommend people to try it and make up their own minds.
