With the return of cooler weather, we finally polished off our bottle of Ardbeg Anthology 13 Year: The Harpy’s Tale—over a year after cracking it open. Would I buy it again? Read on for my thoughts, but first, let’s revisit the tasting notes.
Nose: salt, peat and sweetness
Palate: smoke, woody, balsamic and light sweetness
Finish: smoke and cinnamon
Cost: $160 (what we paid)
ABV: 46%
What stood out in this whisky? The sweetness from those Sauternes casks—elegantly balanced with Ardbeg’s signature smoky edge. A beautiful pour, no doubt. But would I buy it again? At $160, probably not. Glad we got to experience it, but it’s a one-time affair.
Cheers!
