Sea Flame Spice Whiskey

A little while ago, my husband and I made the hour-plus drive to Newport to check out Newport Craft Brewing and Distilling Co. This spot isn’t just about beer—they also distill their own spirits, offer guided tours, serve up cocktails, and even have food on the menu.

The main draw for me? Their whisky. More specifically, the Sea Flame whiskey. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I have a soft spot for whiskies with cinnamon notes—and this one promised just that. So, let’s dive in.

Nose: cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom

Palate: cinnamon, red hot candies, cloves and vanilla

Finish: peppercorn and loads of spices

ABV: 45%

Cost: $44 (what we paid for the bottle)

Let me start by saying—this whiskey isn’t for everyone. It’s fall and winter in a glass: bold, warming, and unapologetically spiced. Cinnamon takes center stage, backed by rich notes of cloves and cardamom. A touch of pepper creeps in at the end of each sip, adding a nice kick.

If you’re not into heavily spiced spirits, this might not be your thing. But for me? I loved it. Not necessarily as a sipping whiskey, but as a versatile base for hot toddies, cozy cocktails, and—what I’m most excited about—adding it to mulled wine later this year.

It’s one you’ll want to taste before committing, but if spiced cocktails are your jam, this bottle is a winner. We’re so glad we picked it up—the possibilities are endless, and at this price, it was a no-brainer.

Cheers!
