OK, so last week I was very sick and one day my husband walked in with this Crown Royal Blackberry Flavored Whisky in hand along with a few other things to make me feel better. He’s the best! For those that don’t know, to me Crown Royal Rye is still one of the best rye whiskies on the market. So, how did they do with this flavored whisky? Keep reading!
Neat
Nose: blackberry jam
Palate: sweet, vanilla and blackberries
Finish: lightly sweet and tart
ABV: 35%
Cost: $26.99 (what we paid)
On its own, this whisky is sweet with blackberry jam and vanilla notes. Towards the end you get a tartness which brings a nice relief to that sweetness.
In Coffee: we added a shot to a strong Americano, no milk, and this whisky muted the bitterness the coffee provided and brought on a light sweet blackberry jam flavor. I’m not a whisky in coffee gal, but my husband loved it. So, if that’s your vibe, then you’ll enjoy it as well.
In cocktail: We kept it simple and followed the lemonade recipe on the back of the box and this was fantastic. We used Newman’s Own Light Lemonade and garnished with blackberries as well as a lemon wedge. This cocktail is refreshing with the right amount of sweetness from the whisky. There is the perfect balance of sourness from the lemonade and the sweetness of the blackberry jam.
Overall, I would not drink it neat, because I’m not a sweets type of gal but, in cocktails, this is a major win. I absolutely loved the lemonade and could drink this all summer long.
If you love sweet whiskies and whisky flavored cocktails this will be a great addition. Plus, you can’t go wrong with this price. That makes it worth trying.
Note: The contents on my blog are solely my opinion. To me every palate is different! Although I may or may not like a product, I always recommend for people to try it and make up their own minds.

Can I pass on this one?
Yes! It’s an easy pass. I found it good just on cocktails.
i got one bottle of the blackberry it was your best now nobody has it please bring it back
Wish I can find it for $26, everywhere around here in Michigan it’s $34, $39, $49 and seen it for $59. I won’t be buying it if it’s more than $30. Adios!!
I don’t blame you. I wouldn’t pay $59 for it.
Can’t find it anywhere locally. Online sources are double the price. 😵💫
Here in Boston the big box retailers have had it. But, no, don’t purchase at double the price.
It kind of tasted like cough syrup, wouldn’t buy it again!
Fair enough. A lot of flavored whiskies do get that syrupy texture. I prefer in a cocktail. On its own, simply too sweet and like you said, syrupy.
why advertise this if you can’t find it anywhere.
Not an advertisement. It’s a product review. Your best bet to find it is at your local big box store.
This stuff is my go to for weekend coffee’s now! Always grab a bottle when I see it.
I have been looking for this for months, here in Greensboro NC. The last time I was told the retailer would have it in by July 10. Still haven’t gotten it!!
I was just now at a Total Wine in MA and they had it there for $25. It was one per customer but they still had it. Will post a picture of it on Instagram.
