Johnnie Walker High Rye

Alright, when this first came out, I rolled my eyes because honestly, there are way too many ryes out there that are simply, how should I put it… crap! How does this one rate? Well, keep reading.

This whisky is composed of 60% rye aged whisky matured in American oak barrels and includes whiskies from Cardhu. Cardhu is an important part of their Black Label flavor.

Nose: vanilla, spices, and rye sweetness
Palate: spices, cloves, and fruit
Finish: spices and light sweetness
ABV: 45%
Cost: $32-$35

So truthfully, this whisky was a lot better than I thought it would be. The biggest reason why, it’s easy to drink! You can’t say that about all ryes.

This rye is smooth, full of spices and has the right amount of sweetness. What’s even better, this price. Look at the rye whisky market and you’ll note how expensive rye whiskies can be. This one is affordable and tastes good. So, if you want an affordable rye that tastes good, give this one a chance.

Cheers!
