Uncle Nearest Master Blend Edition

Very recently, I had the chance to taste Uncle Nearest Master Blend Edition on our trip to DC when visiting friends.

This black woman owned whiskey has become the fastest growing American Whiskey in U.S. history The distillery celebrates and honors the legacy of Nathan “Nearest” Green, America’s first-known African American master distiller and the person who taught Jack Daniel the craft of whiskey.

This is a cask strength whiskey and it has a blend number of 005. For this whiskey, Master Blender, V. Eady Butler hand selected the barrels to create this master blend edition.

Nose: oak, vanilla and caramel
Palate: baking spices, lightly sweet and vanilla
Finish: oak and spices
Cost: $50-$60
ABV: 59.2%

Ooh Baby, this whiskey is strong! But, oh, so warming. This is the whiskey you drink on a cold winter’s night. Instant fire down your throat that then gently hugs you. It’s lightly sweet and packed with baking spices. Personally, I think it’s one of those slow sippers you sit back and enjoy.

1856 is still my favorite from their whiskies but this one is a very close second. This one is much bolder and rawer. It won’t be a whiskey for everyone but for me, it was one I simply couldn’t stop sipping.

Cheers!

Note: The contents on my blog are solely my opinion. To me every palate is different! Although I may or may not like a product, I always recommend for people to try it and make up their own minds.

Can we expect some Cognac influence after Uncle Nearest’s venture into vineyards?
