Back in August my Husband and I had a chance to visit Hudson Whiskey (Tuthilltown Spirits Distillery) tucked away in Gardiner, NY. We passed on the tour (because if you’ve done one distillery tour, you’ve done them all) and went straight to the bar and sampled their whiskey. Hudson Whiskey is owned by Scottish Independent Distillers William Grant & Sons.

When we arrived at the distillery, we were greeted by a very beefy distillery cat aptly named Bourbon. For about $25 you’re able to sample 6 minis whiskies that come in mini vials and a rocks glass to take home, which to me is an absolute great deal.

The mini samples I ordered were: NY Straight Bourbon Whiskey; Do The Rye Thing: Bright Lights, Big Bourbon; The xSeries Cider Cask Rye; Four Part Harmony; and, This is Your Favorite Whiskey. Although I did enjoy all the samples, out of the 6, my favorite was, This is Your Favorite Whiskey, so I will focus my review on this expression.

Nose: oak, vanilla and fruit
Palate: caramel, vanilla and honey
Finish: light and sweet
Cost: $45 +\-
ABV: 46%

This whiskey is light, fruity and has the right amount of sweetness. For the price and quality, I think it’s fantastic.

I was impressed with all the whiskies I sampled but even more so about the experience. They seem to be producing great whiskies and in their array of products there is something for everyone. At the distillery they even serve boozy (whiskey) slushies which I enjoyed more than the whiskey themselves. Very happy we had a chance to spend an afternoon here. It was a great experience. If you find yourself in the area, I suggest you stop by, you’ll enjoy it.
