Clyde May’s Cask Strength Aged 11 Years

Let me start by saying that this was the first Clyde May’s whiskey that I didn’t completely go… meh. Why? This is a smooth tasting whiskey even though it’s at an ABV of 60%.

Nose: oak, cedar and vanilla
Palate: spices, vanilla, pepper, and molasses
Finish: spices and oak
Cost: $130-$160 (depending on where you buy)

Surprisingly, it was a lot better than I thought it would be. It’s smooth, spiced with light touches of sweetness. I’ve had cask strength whiskies that have literally felt like a punch in the face, this was far from that.

Do you need it? No you don’t, but if you are a Clyde May’s fan this is a great option, if within your price range as it is quite pricey. The drinkability of this whiskey is astonishing. Any cask strength whiskey that doesn’t drink like cask strength is a win for me.

Cheers!
