This is still hands down my favorite bourbon. The downside, you really can’t find these anywhere and the secondary markets ask for your first-born child if you buy from them. We got lucky that a friend of ours not only gave us Batch 15 but also this Batch 17.
Batch 17 doesn’t disappoint and although it’s aged for around 8 years, it tastes a lot older than that.
Nose: oak, cherries and chocolate
Palate: spices, chocolate, tobacco, vanilla and cherries
Finish: warming bite and spices
MSRP Cost: $50-$60
Stagg Jr. exemplifies good quality bourbon. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this iteration. It’s flavorful, balanced, warming and the kind of whiskey that hugs you in every way as it goes down your throat.
This bottle is currently being sold on secondary markets for about $500-$700+. I say to you, don’t buy at that price. As great as this bottle is, it’s not worth that steep price. If you find it at MSRP buy immediately, otherwise please just enjoy the whiskies you already have at home.
Cheers!
Note: The contents on my blog are solely my opinion. To me every palate is different! Although I may or may not like a product, I always recommend for people to try it and make up their own minds.
