When it’s hot outside, whisky is not something most people gravitate towards during the summer, I included. So, I wanted to share my favorite, three ingredient, summer cocktail. It’s our go to cocktail whenever we visit my brother and sister-in-law down in Rhode Island. Here is what you’ll need, Vodka, Spiked Seltzer and Juice.
Before I get into the exact measurements, I wanted to explain the use of one of the ingredients, the spiked seltzer. There are so many options out there for spiked seltzers, you could off course use your favorite. My favorite, hands down, is Smirnoff Spiked Seltzer (not to be confused with their Smirnoff Ice, as they are very different) and yes, I’ve tried many brands out there, but this one is the best in my opinion. It’s the one that never left a bad after taste.
Each seltzer has an alcohol content of 4.5% and is 90 calories per can. My favorite is their Orange Mango but for the purposes of this blog I also used their new Raspberry Rose.
Recipe
- 1 can Spiked Seltzer (I used Smirnoff Spiked Seltzer Orange Mango and Raspberry Rose as I made two cocktails)
- One-part Vodka (I used Grey Goose Cherry Noir, but you can use a Vodka of your choice)
- Juice (I used light cranberry juice, but you can use a juice of your choice)
First take your glass and add ice, if you like, pour half of the spiked seltzer in your glass.
Then take the vodka and add one part or one shot to the spiked seltzer.
Finally, top off with the juice.
Stir all ingredients and simply enjoy!
In comparison, my favorite out of the two is the cocktail with the Orange Mango because it’s fruitier without it being overly sweet. The cocktail with the Raspberry Rose tastes very much like a Cape Codder, just slightly elevated with the spiked seltzer. Both cocktails were tasty, refreshing and go down smoothly.
I will warn you, one of these cocktails is more than enough. They creep up on you and if you have more than one or two, you will be feeling it later on.
Cheers!
Note: The contents on my blog are solely my opinion. To me every palate is different! Although I may or may not like a product, I always recommend for people to try it and make up their own minds.
