Happy St. Patrick’s Day! To celebrate, I’m sticking with an Irish classic that everyone already knows and loves—Jameson. I’ve always been a fan of Jameson whiskey—it’s a staple on our shelves. Two of my go-to favorites are the smooth Triple Triple and the versatile Jameson Orange. So, when the chance came to sample their Jameson 18-Year—now bottled at 46% ABV instead of 40%—how could I possibly say no? Let’s see how this one measures up.
This blend combines three of their signature distillates, matured in oak casks, and then finished in fresh American oak barrels for an additional six months.
Nose: oaks and spices
Palate: wood, vanilla, spices and hints of sweetness
Finish: woody and spiced
ABV: 46%
Cost: $150-$200
If you’re a Jameson fan, you’ll appreciate the 18-Year. It’s a step up from their classic expression—more complex, yet still true to that signature Jameson profile. Expect a touch of sweetness balanced by warm spice and wood notes, creating a refined and satisfying sip. While it doesn’t surpass my two personal favorites, it fills a gap in their lineup and delivers a solid experience. The only drawback? The price. It’s a bit steep for my taste, but if it fits your budget and you love Jameson, it’s worth trying. For a more affordable option, the original Jameson never disappoints.
Cheers!
