Full honesty—I picked these up simply because they came in mini bottles. Grangestone is a brand owned by William Grant & Sons, one of the largest independent whisky producers in Scotland. So, are they actually any good? Let’s find out.
Grangestone Bourbon Cask Finish (40% ABV): This 50 ml sample cost me $1.99.
The nose opens with vanilla, caramel, and toffee. On the palate, it’s mildly sweet, showcasing caramel and vanilla alongside a touch of spice. The finish lingers lightly, bringing a bit of oak and warm spices.
Grangestone Rum Cask Finish (40% ABV): This 50 ml mini set me back $1.99.
The nose opens with vanilla and subtle fruitiness. On the palate, there’s honey, vanilla, caramel, and a warm cinnamon note. The finish carries a gentle rum character from the cask, rounded out by soft peppery spice.
I was genuinely impressed by these—far better than I expected. Both expressions are enjoyable, but if I had to choose a favorite, the Rum Cask Finish stands out. I appreciated how the sweetness was present without ever becoming heavy, balanced nicely by notes of cinnamon and the gentle peppery finish. On top of that, they’re very affordable, which makes them even more appealing. Great flavor at a great price is a win‑win in my book.
Cheers!
