Glenmorangie has unveiled a new addition to its Tale series: A Tale of Spices. Inspired by the vibrant colors and intoxicating aromas of bustling spice markets, this expression promises a sensory adventure. Personally, A Tale of Ice Cream still holds the crown for me—but let’s see how this latest release measures up.
A Tale of Spices gets its character from four different casks. With this expression, Glenmorangie introduces Moroccan red wine casks—crafted from French oak—for the very first time, complemented by new charred oak, shaved toasted red wine casks, and indulgent Pedro Ximénez sherry casks.
Nose: floral, fruity and baking spices
Palate: ginger, cloves, light pepper and nuttiness
Finish: light sweetness and spices
ABV: 46%
Cost: $99 (what we paid)
Move over, A Tale of Ice Cream—there’s a new favorite in town. A Tale of Spices brings together sweetness, spice, and nutty notes in a way that instantly transports you the vibrant nostalgia of a bustling spice market. I loved it so much we bought a bottle after sampling. Interestingly, the person guiding our tasting still preferred A Tale of Ice Cream, which just proves it’s all about personal preference. If spice-forward flavors aren’t your thing, this whisky probably won’t be for you. I, on the other hand, gravitated toward whiskies that showcase baking spice notes like cloves and nutmeg. They have been my go-to, so this one hit all the right marks. In my opinion, it’s a clear winner.
Cheers!
Note: The contents on my blog are solely my opinion. To me every palate is different! Although I may or may not like a product, I always recommend people to try it and make up their own minds.
