Akashi Japanese Whisky Highball

The 4th of July is just around the corner, and the heat is on—literally. So, when I spotted this Akashi Japanese Whisky Highball, I couldn’t resist grabbing one. If you didn’t know, the Highball is Japan’s most popular whisky cocktail, and honestly, this Akashi cocktail just makes sense. A highball is traditionally made with whisky, sparkling water, and ice served in a tall glass, it’s simple, refreshing, and perfect for summer. But the real question is—does this one live up to the hype? Let’s find out.

I picked up a 4-pack of 355ml cans for $29.99, which works out to about $7.50 per cocktail—pricier than what I’ve paid before. According to the label, it’s a whisky highball made with blended whisky.

Honestly, this exceeded my expectations. It’s refreshing, crisp, and incredibly easy to drink. The whisky isn’t overpowering—it’s well-balanced and nicely done. At $7.50 per cocktail, it’s not a bad deal considering you’d pay more for something similar at a bar. That said, if you already have whisky at home, it’s easy enough to make your own highball. This is convenient, but not essential if you’ve got the ingredients on hand.

Cheers!
