As promised in my Tuesday post, I am now here to share my thoughts on the Glenmorangie A Tale of Tokyo. Without further ado, here is a short and sweet review.
The creation of this expression was inspired by Dr Bill’s experience of Tokyo. A Tale of Tokyo is partially aged in Mizurana oak casks and incorporates whisky that has been matured in both sherry and bourbon casks.
Nose: oak, orange zest and cherries
Palate: lightly sweet, oranges, pepper, fruit and cinnamon
Finish: zesty and hints of sweetness
Cost: $100-$125
ABV: 46%
Is this one better than A Tale of Ice Cream? In my opinion, no. While this whisky is not bad, it may not leave a lasting impression. To me it’s most notable for how smooth it is. The flavors of orange and zest are quite prominent, accompanied by a light sweetness. Additionally, there are balanced notes of cinnamon and pepper. Overall, it is a decent whisky to enjoy, but not something I would personally run to get or add to my collection.
Cheers!
Note: The contents on my blog are solely my opinion. To me every palate is different! Although I may or may not like a product, I always recommend for people to try it and make up their own minds.
