With just about four days till St. Patrick’s Day, here we are with another short and sweet Irish Whiskey review. Tullamore D.E.W. is a whiskey brand I do enjoy, and I recently sampled their 12-Year Special Reserve so, let’s dive in.
Nose: oak, sherry and light sweetness
Palate: nutty, fruit and chocolate
Finish: spices and light sweetness
ABV: 40%
Cost: $55-$65
This whiskey is matured in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks. The influence of the sherry cask is evident in the aroma, and it lightly imparts a sweetness to the palate. The lower ABV also contributes to its smoothness, making it an easy-to-drink whiskey. It offers a light, smooth, and nutty character with lovely chocolate notes, complemented by a finish of spices and sweetness.
Overall, it was a very tasty dram.Additionally, the price point for this whiskey is very reasonable, making it a fantastic choice for those seeking to try a quality Irish whiskey without breaking the bank. Whether you are new to whiskey or simply looking to explore this brand for the first time, this would be a great option.
Cheers!
Note: The contents on my blog are solely my opinion. To me every palate is different! Although I may or may not like a product, I always recommend for people to try it and make up their own minds.

I must admit to taking a second look at this bottle of Tullamore DEW.
Despite only living a half hour away from the distillery I’d failed to notice the new labelling.
Looks fresher & more modern to me.
Hope the liquid is just the same as the old bottling!
