Over the weekend, we celebrated our annual Friendsgiving, and one of the whiskies we enjoyed together was this West Cork Bourbon Cask Matured Irish Whiskey. In my opinion, West Cork is an amazing brand that offers great Irish whiskey at an affordable price point. This expression is 75% grain and 25% malt Irish whiskey matured in first fill bourbon whiskey casks.

Nose: apples, nutmeg and sweetness
Palate: baking spices, pepper and lightly sweet
Finish: apples and nutmeg
Cost: $26-$35
ABV: 40%

This whiskey is exceptionally smooth and goes down easily. It offers a combination of baking spices with a hint of cracker pepper. The spiciness is perfectly balanced with intermittent touches of sweetness, making it a fantastic sip. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I ended up having two drams. This is a brand you shouldn’t sleep on. The price and quality make it a standout choice.
