Glengoyne 15-Year-Old Highland Single Malt Scotch

The weather is officially nice and cool in New England which means, it’s not only sweater weather but also whisky season. Let’s get into this Glengoyne. This Highland Distillery is located just outside of Glasgow and was founded in 1883. The distillery is now owned by Ian Macleod Distillers Ltd.

Glengoyne chose to marry whiskies matured in bourbon and sherry casks for this expression. The type of casks used are first fill bourbon, first fill sherry and refill casks.

Nose: fruit and citrus
Palate: cinnamon, vanilla, apples and light sweetness
Finish: spices and oak
ABV: 43%
Cost: $90-$130

Let me start by saying that the same day I tasted this whisky I also tasted their 18-Year and, I actually ended up preferring this one. It’s fruity, spiced and smooth. The low ABV brings up its drinkability making it easy to drink. It’s balanced, has all the Fall notes and it’s perfect for this time of year. It’s a tasty quality dram that’s pretty good.

Cheers!
