Watertown Coconut Whiskey

It’s summer and honestly, it’s hot outside. Whiskey is not what I gravitate to on a warm day, but Coconut Whiskey, come on now, that is summer in a bottle screaming come drink me… so we did.

Watertown Whiskey was created by Mikey Bortone who appeared on the show Survivor. That’s where he found his love for coconut water. He then began mixing whiskey with coconut water until he decided to do the next best thing, Coconut Whiskey and here we are. But is it any good? Let’s get into it.

Nose: coconut and caramel
Palate: light sweet, toasted coconut, caramel
Finish: light warmth and coconut
ABV: 36.5%
Cost: $35

Neat: not overly sweet, coconut flavors are very present, but they lean more to the toasted coconut side. You also get a bit of caramel notes. There is a nice light burn throughout the dram with a light coconut finish.

On the rocks: it’s refreshing, starts off sweeter but a melting ice cube quickly mellows it out. It’s very easy to drink.

Initially I thought it would be a gimmick so, there were zero expectations when we purchased this bottle. It’s good! I’m 100% shocked at how much I enjoyed this. The toasted coconut notes in this whiskey are fantastic. But you want to know why I think this whiskey is good, it doesn’t taste artificial. That is why I think this whiskey works. It’s not sweet, it’s fresh, toasted and gosh darn delicious.

I made the Whiskey Colada recipe on their website and was not a fan of that cocktail, but I’ll just need to work on creating my own recipe. For the price this is a great product to make summer cocktails or simply just sip on its own. It’s so darn good!

Cheers!

Note: The contents on my blog are solely my opinion. To me every palate is different! Although I may or may not like a product, I always recommend for people to try it and make up their own minds.
